Love and Peace and leave God to do the rest!

Romans 12:9-21 v 19 “Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the scriptures say, “I will take revenge, I will pay them back,” says the Lord.

Words that stood out

Never pay back evil with more evil. Do all that you can to live in pace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the scriptures say, “I will take revenge, I will pay them back,” says the Lord. Instead, if your enemies are hungry feed them. If they are thirsty give them something to drink. Don’t let evil conquer you but conquer evil by doing good.

Reflection

I am just back from a two-week vacation in the UK and visited with friends and family that have known me forever. I went back to places that were special to my parents who are no longer with us, and others that had childhood memories of vacations. And despite these strong connections to my past, I felt like a Canadian visiting England. I realized I was a new person born of the experiences I had had growing up but also those as an adult and how studying Gods word changes us. I put hurts and disappointments from those years gone by aside and found that it was more important to live peacefully with those I met, remembering the good times, and making sure we all had a good time eating and drinking and getting to know each other a little better, and knowing that God was also on this journey with me to leave God to do His job.

“Instead, if your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink.” Romans 12v 20a

Prayer: Almighty God who is always with us, thank you for allowing us to do good and to develop relationships with all we meet with love. To enjoy the peace and leaving the rest up to you. Amen.
