Ezekiel 37 1-14 v “So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath entered them. Then they came to life and stood on their feet.”
The scripture today from the old testament tells a vivid story about the experience of the prophet Ezekiel . In the old testament God spoke directly to these wise men who listened and shared their God stories with the world around them so that people would follow the one true God.
‘The power of the Lord came over me. The Lord brought me out by His spirit and put me down in the middle of a valley . The valley was filled with bones. He led me all around them. I saw that there were many bones in the bottom of the valley, and they were very dry.”
Ezekiel 37 1-1-2
Ezekiel prophesied over the bones and the ligaments and muscles and skin returned to the bones. Then he prophesied as commanded and the breath entered the people and they stood up. Another dramatic picture of the effect of the breath of God, and his power over the world.
On a good God day, when I had time to pray and read scripture before my work day started my drive to work was filled with green traffic lights. I would arrive on time without any stops whatever the time was when I left for work. Also, I often used the quiet time during the 30 minute drive to pray and one day I was praying for a direction. I wanted to know if I was on the right path. This particular day I did stop at a traffic light and as I slowed down a large city work truck stopped in front of me with a very large sign on the back pointing to the right! A powerful sign that I was on the right track.
Even in our restricted world of the pandemic on a long weekend spent at home God is with us. I am learning to see Him in the candle I light at home during an online worship service. In the stillness of my garden as I enjoy breakfast outside as if I was camping.
Prayer: Almighty God, thank you for giving us guidance and strength from your word in the bible. Thank you for Jesus who showed us the way and the power of the Holy Spirit to change us from the inside out. Help us to see the signs you have for us today. Amen
