Be prepared

Proverbs 31 v 21 “She does not fear for her family when it snows because her whole family has a double layer of clothing.”

In these verses of the final chapter of Proverbs in the Old Testament the virtues of a good wife are described. v12″She helps him( her husband) and never harms him all the days of her life.” v 20 “she opens her hands to oppressed people and stretches them out to needy people.” v30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty evaporates, but a women who has the fear of the Lord should be praised”

The bible has many practical words of wisdom which help us in our daily lives . This ideal wife is prepared for the future as the first quote tells us she had appropriately made clothes for her family that would keep them warm when it snowed. The prospect of snow coming did not stress her out because of this.

Helping those less fortunate than ourselves in a practical hands on way was also in the list of ideal traits.

All important above, beauty and charm was respecting God.

Preparing for bad weather means we can decrease the stress of today and nurturing our spiritual life is as important now as it was in the time of the Old Testament.

Prayer: Holy and loving Father, help us to read the good news of the bible and be prepared as we look after the family you have given us. Amen.
