Your word is……….

Psalm 119: 105-112 v 105 “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”

Words that stood out

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. I will obey your righteous regulations.  Lord, accept my offering of praise. My life constantly hangs in the balance, but I will not stop obeying your instructions. Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight. I am determined to keep your decrees to the very end.

Reflection

Starting my day with words from the bible makes every day a better day. Not all days are good days, but think how difficult they could be if I didn’t start them with God? Have you ever walked in the dark without a lamp? When camping I have occasionally found myself doing just that, trying not to disturb others as I make my way to the bathroom. I stumbled, hit my toes and felt scared of every slight movement and noise. We do better with a lamp so that our feet are secure in every step and we can confidently move forward. We are also helped by the laws of the bible. Jesus was very clear on the greatest commandment found in Matthew 22:36-40  New International Version from The Bible Gateway :-

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Prayer

Heavenly Father thank you for providing a lamp in Jesus to help us to walk with confidence as we follow your commands to the end of our days. Amen.
