The law could not do!

 Romans 8: 1-11v 3 “The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do.”

Words that stood out

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Jesus Christ. The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent His own son, in the body like the sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving His son as a sacrifice for our sins. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. And Christ lives within you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living in you.

Reflection

The forests are burning in the north of Ontario, and the smoke is affecting our lives as the air quality causes us to stay indoors, even in some of the major cities in the USA. Flash floods are damaging homes, and heat is killing crops and people. Is our sinful nature being reflected in the world around us? The desire to follow our sinful nature rather than the direction of the Spirit? What can I do to make the world a better place? Believe that Christ Jesus died for our sinful nature. That despite the changes around us He will lead us to what is best for the world and for us as individuals. Rejoice and be glad for the Lord is good and with Jesus as our example the Spirit within us will lead us.  

Prayer

Almighty God who is bigger than all the troubles in the world help us today and every day to listen to the Spirit within us and hold the hand of Jesus as He walks beside us. Amen.
