Love

Romans 13:8-14 v10 “Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfils the requirements of God’s law.”

Words that stood out

Owe nothing to anyone- except your obligation to love one another. These – and other commandments – are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfils the requirements of God’s law. Wake up, for your salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Instead, cloth yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t think about ways to indulge your evil desires.

Reflection

“This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out.” Romans 13 v 11

I was just at the Paris Fair, in a group of over 15,000 people watching a concert. It was fascinating as I waited for the concert to begin to look at all the people. Those immediately around me, those walking by, and those who I could hardly see in the distant crowd. Old, young and everything in between. How could I love them all? Would they want me to love them? Was love there in the crowd?  First, I felt safe in the crowd. I saw three police officers walking quickly but they passed by intent on following someone, but I heard nothing more. When the music started there were shouts of encouragement and clapping and lots of people joined in the singing. On the outside people were clothed with a love of music and were happy to be together. A demonstration of love joining people together. People behaving in a friendly way to anyone around them. If a love of music can join people together, we must trust that the love of God can do the same. What an amazing concert is waiting for us in heaven! Live clothed in love today in the name of Christ our Lord.

Prayer: Heavenly Father we thank you for the love that you have placed deep in our hearts for all the world. Let it shine out for others to see today and always. Amen.
