psalm 114v “What’s wrong Red Sea that made you hurry out of their way?”
Words that stood out
When the family of Jacob left that foreign land- the land of Judah became God’s sanctuary, and Israel became his kingdom. The red sea saw them coming and hurried out of their way. What’s wrong Red Sea that made you hurry out of their way? Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob. He turned the rock into a pool of water.
Reflection
This psalm reminds us of our roots. A displaced people, who moved to an occupied land, which became God’s sanctuary. Our allegiance is to a higher power that can turn rock into water. A power that created the order of the earth but that can manipulate it too. That we are in awe of but through Jesus Christ have a relationship with too. What’s wrong with the Red Sea? They obeyed God even when it required a change in the laws of nature.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, guide us today to follow you. And if we find ourselves in a different place, and you ask us to change the rules we have lived by, reassure us it is for your glory and your Kingdom. Amen
