Love and Joy

John 15 v 9-17

v 11-12 “I have told you this so that you will be as joyful as I am, and your joy will be complete. Love each other as I have loved you.”

Jesus in this paragraph states clearly the objective of his mission, to show his Fathers love to the world, to encourage His followers to love each other and the result of following his commands is that “your joy will be complete”. Are you like me counting the days until lockdown restriction are reduced? Looking at the clutter on your desk at home and longing to talk face to face with colleagues? Fed up with not getting together with family and friends? Not a joyful or loving picture! How then can you find joy today, one that will be complete?

What did Jesus do? He prayed alone to God; you can do that. If you need suggestions use this link to the CrossWalk prayer page. He helped those on the margins of society. Many charities are having difficulties today as regular sources of income are not available to them. Ask yourself the question who do you care about and how would you like to help today? Find a way to help, “and your joy will be complete”.

Prayer: Loving God, in the confusion, frustration and loss caused by the pandemic help me to find you every day in my current surroundings. Thank you for the things I do have, and guide my thoughts from you to helping others so that my joy can be complete. Amen
