Jesus Calms the Sea

Mark 4:  35-41 v 38-39 But He (Jesus) was sleeping on a cushion at the back of the boat. So they woke Him up and said to Him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are going to die?” “Then He got up, ordered the wind to stop, and said to the sea, “Be still, absolutely still” The wind stopped blowing and the sea became very calm.

There are many different ways to read the bible to learn on your Christian journey. Here and during the CrossWalk mid week fellowship on Wednesday the same stories are studied that are found in several of the gospels. This story can be found in Mathew 8 v 23-27 and Luke 8 v 22-25 as well as the above reference from Mark 4 v 35-41. Here, we learn from Mark that the disciples called Jesus teacher. Mathew refers to Him as Lord, and Luke as Master. Each name gives us a different clue as to who Jesus is. It is helpful in our understanding. The account of Jesus’s actions is remarkably similar in all as above but His question to the disciples following His actions is phrased again in three different ways “Why do you have so little faith? Don’t you have any faith? Where is your faith?

How often do we get lost in the daily storms of our lives and forget that Jesus is with us, and what matters is our faith and allow Him to calm the storm?

Prayer:- Lord, thank you for teaching us that you are master over the wind and the sea and can calm any storm in our lives. Amen
